Phil Sim

Non-Executive Director

Before joining Hudson Homes, Phil Sim has been building homes for families in Australia and New Zealand since 1969. With an eye for detail and an old-fashioned builder’s hands-on approach, his many years of quality workmanship earned him the respect from his clients, his industry and his peers.

For more than 45 years now, his benchmark in all things building has been excellence. And this philosophy is carried right through the culture at Hudson Homes and Hudson Communities: from the Construction Manager right down to the person that fixes the numbers to the letterbox.

In March 2012, Phil was appointed as a Member of the New South Wales Home Building Advisory Council by NSW Government Fair Trading Minister, Mr Anthony Roberts. A role he takes very seriously, his personal mission is to ensure that all home builders understand the responsibility to their clients and employ a philosophy centred on achieving quality, time and cost efficiencies.

Danny Assabgy


As Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Hudson Homes Group of Companies, Danny brings specialised knowledge in financial advisory practice, property funds management, development, construction and business management expertise to the group. Commencing his career with the Chartered Accountancy firm of Ferrier Hodgson, Danny made the transition to property in 1996 where he was involved at an executive level for a number of property investment and development companies.

Danny gained experience in the identification, acquisition, management and marketing of residential property projects as well as obtaining specific knowledge in the areas of development and construction management. Danny has previously held the position of Chief Executive Officer of the residential investment division of Simonds, Australia’s 4th largest residential home builder. Under his directorship, the Equiti Group of Companies has been providing private wealth management services to Australians since January 2006 and has grown to include financial advisory, real estate, mortgage management and funds management services.

Danny is a qualified builder, financial advisor, accountant, licenced real estate agent in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria as well as being ASIC RG146 compliant. He holds a number of corporate directorships and performs the duty of Responsible Manager on the AFS licence for Equiti Capital Limited.

Rob Borg

General Manager

As Group General Manager, Robert Borg brings more than 40 years’ experience in the residential building industry as well as specialised knowledge in the construction of residential homes and townhouse community style developments to Hudson Communities.

Commencing his career in 1975 in Architectural Design with then industry leaders Huxley Homes, Robert quickly progressed to Senior Design Manager before being appointed Contract and Operations Manager. Robert’s career continued to progress over the years and has since held Senior Management positions with industry leaders that included Bellevale Homes as well as NSW General Manager of the Clarendon Group of Companies. An advocate of the residential construction industry, Robert has always been a member of and supportive of the Housing Industry Association (HIA) and was founding NSW and National President of the HIA – National Kitchen and Bathroom Association, during which period he was responsible for establishing cadetship programs that focused on developing people within the building and construction industry.

As a qualified and licenced builder, Robert established Stoneleigh Designer Homes which focused on the design and construction of custom designed homes and residential townhouse projects before joining the Hudson Homes group as founding General Manager.

With a thorough understanding of the management of residential construction, Robert has built a team focused on achieving quality, time and cost efficiencies. Add to that a culture that is determined to deliver a high level of service to its clients and you will begin to see how Robert’s collaborative approach to management has been key to the growth and development of the Hudson group of companies.

Michael Gad

Construction Manager

In his role as Construction Manager, Michael Gad brings a vast range of commercial construction experience to the Hudson Communities design and construction team. Since graduating from the University of Technology, Sydney with a Bachelor of Building in Construction Management in 1998, Michael progressed his employment with the tier 1 and 2 construction companies of Multicorp, St Hilliers, Australand, Richard Crookes and Thiess, working through the ranks from Site Foreman to Senior Management roles. Throughout his 20 year career, Michael has gained in-depth knowledge of all aspects of procurement and delivery with roles on many landmark projects encompassing industrial, commercial, civil and residential projects. More specifically, he has gained hands-on experience in:

  • major civil projects including remediation, services reticulation, subdivisions, bridge construction, tunnel construction, road works
  • industrial and commercial construction up to 60,000m2 warehouses · multi storey commercial office construction
  • high rise building demolition and underpinning
  • multi storey residential apartment construction
  • community townhouse construction
  • luxury residential house construction
  • shopping centre construction including retail fit-out
  • hospital construction (including Contracts Manager for the $1 billion Royal North Shore Hospital)

Michael has gained significant construction management experienced across all facets of the construction process from initial design management through to construction handover. His expertise and communicative style work collaboratively to deliver outstanding project outcomes for our clients.
